Stainless Steel 409 Tubing is a ferritic stainless steel containing 10.5–11.75% chromium, low carbon content, and optional titanium stabilization for enhanced weldability and corrosion resistance. It provides reliable oxidation resistance, strong heat stability, and moderate mechanical performance, with a typical tensile strength of 380–450 MPa and yield strength around 170 MPa. While less corrosion-resistant than austenitic grades, 409 offers toughness, high thermal conductivity, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These properties make it a cost-effective choice for high-temperature, exhaust, and mildly corrosive applications.
