Stainless Steel 409L Tubing contains max 0.03% carbon, max 1.0% silicon, max 1.0% manganese, max 0.04% phosphorus, max 0.03% sulfur, max 0.5% nickel, 10.5-11.7% chromium, max 0.03% nitrogen, and 0.17-0.5% titanium (min 6x C+N) for stabilization. It exhibits good oxidation resistance up to 1140°C in exhaust gases, atmospheric corrosion resistance 250 times that of mild steel, and resistance to pitting and intergranular corrosion due to titanium binding carbides and sulfur. Mechanical properties include yield strength of 170-220 MPa, tensile strength of 380-560 MPa, elongation min 20-25%, hardness max 88 HRB, density 7.7-8.0 g/cm³, and modulus of elasticity 220 kN/mm² at 20°C.
